Congressman Conyers visits Capitol Hill Challenge Participants
Last week, Representative John Conyers, Jr. (D-Mich), visited student participants in the Capitol Hill Challenge from Detroit Delta Preparatory Academy for Social Justice and Barth Primary Academy. During these visits, the congressman spoke about the benefits of this challenge
“I am happy to be surrounded by such intelligent and hard-working students. I’d like to congratulate you all on being selected to represent the 13th District of Michigan. This challenge allows young people the opportunity to become familiar with how the stock market operates. It provides a good learning experience and it is a good representation not only for the 13th district, but for schools in Michigan
The Capitol Hill Challenge is a special edition of The Stock Market Game program offered every spring. CHC matches members of Congress with students, teachers, and schools competing in the Stock Market Games (SMG) in their respective district or state. The Capitol Hill Challenge helps students better understand the global economy, develop personal financial skills, and improve their knowledge of math, economics, and business. The CHC acknowledges the accomplishments of the top 10 student teams and their teachers with a trip to Washington D.C to meet their Members of Congress, learn about National Fiscal Policy and tour financial landmarks.
