In addition to getting vaccinated, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that people take the following precautions to reduce the spread of germs that cause the H1N1 virus as well as the germs that cause the seasonal flu and common cold:
-Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
-If a tissue is unavailable, cough or sneeze onto your elbow or shoulder, instead of your hands.
-Wash your hands with soap and water, or use an alcohol-based hand rub.
-Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
-Stay home and limit your contact with others if you are sick.
